FotoFlexer
Our objective was to take a photo of our classmates and manipulate it using a photo enhancing site. I chose to work with www.fotoflexer.com. This site was easy to use, easy to upload photos from my own computer, and easy to add animation, coloring, and "stickers" that were already available on the app. Below is an image of my classmates, Kevin and Dave. They took a picture of themselves, and I saved it to my computer. I then used FotoFlexer to squish Kevin's face and added the animated Valentine's Day stickers to the image.
This was not only easy to use, but also fun. I'd be tentative in doing an activity with my eighth graders, in regards to selfies and manipulating images. But if students were reading a novel, they could take a picture of a scenery and manipulate it to represent the setting of a text. It would also be fun to have them create a character and then complete a create writing assignment to write about their image.

Ribbet.com
After manipulating images on FotoFlexer, I used www.ribbet.com to create a collage with those images. A free app, Ribbet allows for images that are saved on your computer to be easily slid into place on a collage. Then, photos can be resized to fit however you so choose. Borders and templates on Ribbet also allow for easy creativity to be added to the collage. This would be an excellent resource for my students to use for independent reading. They could take photos in society to represent their novels and then create a collage with those images as a "book poster". One image could represent the theme in the novel, one could represent the tone, etc. per choice of the teacher. Again, however, in allowing students to use a camera for a school project, I would have to really make sure to go over the acceptable use policy of my building so that students know my expectations and so that they understand the boundaries in using a camera for a school project.
