I truly try to use technology as much as I can. I would consider myself to be an early adopter, as I find technology fascinating, fun, and creative. I am constantly in Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Poshmark. I always have some sort of technology at my fingertips, whether it be my computer, smart phone, smart tv, or iPad.
In my classroom, I am blessed to have an ELMO cart, which contains a document camera, a projector, a dvd/vcr player, and a computer with Internet access. I use this cart almost every single day in my classroom, whether it's to post something on the white board for editing and revising, to show a film clip, or to model work for my students. My building; however, does not have wifi access, so some of the activities that I would like to do are impossible. It will be easier next year when wifi is installed in the building, and I'm excited by the possibilities that this will bring. I have embraced Remind101 with both my students and students' parents this year, and it has been extremely beneficial. We also have two iPad carts in the building, and I try to use them whenever it's possible. I have the students do research, complete surveys, fill out blogs, and read non-fiction articles that pertain to our curriculum.
I am constantly talking about technology with my students. They are such a wealth of knowledge! Not only do I promote its use (SAFELY), but I ask them for advice and what their current trends are. They move faster than I do with technology and are always showing me what is up and coming. I am inspired by their knowledge and am always willing to trades seats with them to become the student.
